Our Innovations — On Earth, Mars, and Beyond

Our commitment to excellence shines through every aspect of the DESIGN AND manufacturing process, from the initial concept sketches to the rigorous quality testing of the final product design and every phase in between. With expert analysis and design woven into every step, we ensure precision and innovation at every stage, delivering results that exceed expectations.

James Webb Space Telescope

ION Corporation designed the fixturing, harnesses, data bus communications, EMI shielding, and the engineering model test bed for NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) from 2004 to 2012. The JWST is the most powerful space observatory ever launched, studying every phase in the history of our Universe and producing breathtaking images of the cosmos.

Mars Perseverance Rover

ION Corporation provided the fabrication of critical communication and space flight hardware for NASA’s Mars Rover program, which launched in 2020. The Perseverance Rover is searching for signs of ancient microbial life, as it collects core samples of Martian rock—laying the groundwork for potential future missions to return samples to Earth for further study.

SphereX Space telescope

ION Corporation developed spaceflight hardware for the NASA-JPL’s Spectro-Photometer for the History of the Universe, Epoch of Reionization and Ices Explorer (SPHEREx) mission. Across its planned 2-year mission, SPHEREx will collect data on more than 450 million galaxies along with more than 100 million stars in the Milky Way in order to explore the origins of the universe.

International Space Station

ION Corporation built and maintained the environmental control and life support system (ECLSS) for the International Space Station from 1989 to 2001 & we continue to provide ongoing services supporting the ECLSS capsule to this day.
